Cultural Influences on Degenerative Knee Disease

The article titled “Paleoepidemiology of Degenerative Knee Disease” by Robert D. Jurmain highlights the differences in skeletal traits among various human populations, which are influenced by genetics, environment, and culture. It was interesting to see that study investigates how cultural behaviors and lifestyle can impact the development of degenerative knee disease. According to the data, age is not the only factor in the development of degenerative knee disease. The study reveals that Eskimos are more prone to degenerative knee disease compared to the other groups studied. The research further examines the role of cultural behaviors and environmental factors in the increased risk of degenerative knee disease among Eskimos.
